Talanoa Session with Brianna Fruean
by Analei Samaseia
As part of our ongoing mission to uplift, empower, and engage Pacific Islanders through creativity and culture, Creative Pacific hosted a community Talanoa Session, bringing together voices from across the diaspora for a powerful afternoon of storytelling, learning, and cultural dialogue.
Promoted with the call: “The conversation is happening, and all of our incredible panelists are ready to share their insights with you!”
we invited the community to join us in an open dialogue around critical topics that impact both our lives here in Utah and our loved ones back home in the islands. These included:
Climate Change
Beauty & Wellness
Mental Health
Women Empowerment
Fashion
Culture
Our featured keynote speaker, Brianna Fruean, an internationally recognized Pacific climate activist, delivered a compelling address on the intersection of climate justice and Indigenous identity. Her message underscored how environmental stewardship is deeply tied to the preservation of Pacific cultures, traditions, and ways of life.
We are deeply grateful to our panel of community leaders—Gwen Tuaitanu, Benjamin Powell, Celia Moleni, Afa Ah Loo, and Richard Wolfgramm—for their vulnerability, cultural insight, and commitment to shifting narratives within our communities. Each shared personal experiences and professional expertise, offering attendees tangible inspiration and a renewed sense of unity.
The Talanoa space is an essential part of Creative Pacific’s broader vision: to foster intergenerational conversations, celebrate Pacific brilliance, and create platforms where our people feel seen, heard, and valued.
This is just one of many efforts we’re leading to center the voices of our community and activate change through cultural connection. Stay tuned for future community-centered events and initiatives.
