JAIYAH SAELUA
Jaiyah Saelua is a FIFA Legend, best known as the 1st out transgender person in the world to compete in a FIFA tournament. She is featured in a documentary about the American Samoa National Soccer Team, called "Next Goal Wins", which has been made into a Hollywood feature film by renowned Maori Hollywood director, Taika Waititi.
She has used her platform to elevate the cultural significance of the Samoan fa’afafine identity as an ambassador for visibility & inclusion in sport. She is currently the Program Manager for the Fa’afafine Rural Program, a project under The Alliance that creates safe, communal & resourceful spaces for the SOGIESC community in American Samoa.
